Let’s Help Build a School in Mozambique – Letter to Our Donors

In Alto Molócuè, Mozambique, children dream of learning, growing, and building a better future. However, the school run by the Dehonian Fathers needs new classrooms to welcome more students. This November, let us combine our prayers for the deceased with support for the school expansion project in Mozambique.

Olsztyn, September 7, 2026

Praise be to Jesus Christ,

I would like to kindly ask for your support in expanding Father Dehon Elementary School in Alto Molócuè, Mozambique, which is run by the Priests of the Sacred Heart.

Alto Molócuè is a place where education offers children a tremendous opportunity to build a better future. This is especially true for children from disadvantaged families, who may otherwise be unable to continue their education without outside support. The school run by the Dehonian Fathers is not only a place of learning but also a place where children find hope, a sense of security, and opportunities to grow.

The school's history began in 2012, when it opened as a small preschool for children aged three to five. Over time, thanks to the dedication of parents, teachers, and missionaries, it continued to grow. In 2018, an elementary school was established, welcoming children into the first grade. Each subsequent year, another grade was added. The goal is for the school to offer classes through ninth grade – the final year of basic education in the local school system – by 2027. However, a shortage of classrooms stands in the way of achieving this goal.

The Dehonian Fathers are planning to build a new wing with four classrooms, a teachers' room, a community room, and two restrooms. However, the project cannot move forward without sufficient funding. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference. Together, we can ensure that children in Alto Molócuè do not have to give up their education simply because there is not enough space in the classrooms. We can help them gain knowledge, develop their talents, and prepare for adult life.

Investing in a school means investing in people. Admittedly, this is a costly undertaking: expanding the Dehonian school in Mozambique will cost as much as PLN 890,000. Yet we know that by building classrooms, we are helping to build a future for these children – the students of this missionary school. We are helping ensure that future generations will be able to sit at their desks, learn, and look to the future with hope. That is why I appeal to you to give generously and support this missionary project. May your generosity be an expression of our shared concern for children who, although they live thousands of kilometers away from us, have the same right to dream, to receive an education, and to live with dignity.

For the Dehonian Missionary Family, November is a special time to remember our loved ones who have passed away and to pray for them. “Tears may dry, but the love we hold in our hearts for our departed loved ones remains!” That is why we pray for them, asking God to grant them the greatest gift of all: eternal salvation and the joy of being with Him in Heaven. I warmly encourage you to send the names of your deceased loved ones to our mission office, either by post or electronically. Throughout November, Holy Mass will be celebrated each day for their intentions. The Dehonian Fathers at the Mission House in Olsztyn will also read the names submitted for our missionary remembrance prayers during their daily adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. All donations made in connection with these remembrance prayers will go toward the expansion of a school in Mozambique.
